Where in the World is Danny Getting Drunk Today..?

And now, after weeks of research and dedication, it is with great pride that I present to you a groundbreaking piece of photo journalism—BOTTOMS ACROSS THE WORLD.

Watch this marionette take an emotional journey in Seattle.  This is just the end—I WISH I had caught more on video.  Best performance of the year.

Reasons I’m Drinking THIS Week. Pour yourself a cocktail and feast your eyes on this RICHness.

Wine + Margarita = ROOOOAAARR

With only one week left in Alaska, it’s time to navigate the massive fog that is my memory so that I can sum up the past month, if anyone’s actually reading this.  As far as I’m concerned, Alaska is a mythical place that is rife with nonstop glaciers, totem poles, eagles, wild salmon, jade, and the occasional sex shop.  I stumbled into the latter after a luxurious dinner at El Sombrero, one of Juneau’s Mexican restaurants.  There are many reasons that Juneau ISN’T well-known for its Mexican cuisine, but the one that stands out the most to me is that El Sombrero doesn’t have a hard liquor license and was therefore selling what they called “wine margaritas.”  How dare they.

“Wine margaritas” are like your two best friends who you love individually and who absolutely do not get along.  They don’t belong in the same room and they CERTAINLY don’t belong in the same glass.  Even the server advised us against ordering this travesty.  The Bottom Line: Mexican restaurants without constantly-flowing tequila are the restaurant industry’s answer to the cocktease.  Speaking of which, the sex shop was nothing to write home about (I usually write home about all the sex shops I go to) and made me question whether people actually have sex in Alaska.  Not cool, Juneau.

That being said, if you ever DO find yourself in Juneau, I definitely recommend that you see the Mendenhall Glacier.  You can walk almost right up to it and take some breathtaking pics.  I also took a brilliant scenic train ride through the mountains that started in Skagway, Alaska and went into Canada.  This was a great opportunity to see some incredible views, take crazy pictures, or sleep.  Whatever you like.  Also, if you ever find yourself in Skagway, resist the suicidal thoughts you’ll no-doubt have and go to Jewel Gardens.  I was disappointed when I realized that this wasn’t a garden with plant-sculptures of folk-music-sensation, Jewel, but I ate a delicious meal that included just-picked veggies and greens from the garden and drank rose-black tea in a ridiculous hat.

The past month has been the closest I’ll come to winter weather for the next year and I’m not going to be devastated about going south to warmer/beachier weather.  Alaska, it’s been real, but I’m beyond excited to start heading down the west coast towards Mexico.  Tequila/mistakes, here I come!

Oh, and I’m also about to start the Insanity workout DVDs.  Don’t tell my body or it might instinctively throw itself overboard.

xoxo,

Danny
